SCOPE OF GUIDELINES
We are committed to protecting and safeguarding children and youth information. These privacy guidelines explain what information we may collect through the digital platform, how such information may be used and processed, how we safeguard it and how you may access and control its use in connection to your utilization of the digital platform. We follow these privacy guidelines in accordance with applicable law in countries or regions where we operate this digital platform. Please read this privacy guidelines carefully because by using the digital platform you are acknowledging that you understand and agree to the terms of this Privacy Guidelines.

COLLECTION OF INFORMATION
We typically collect anonymous information (no personal information is requested) when you register to create an account. Only the mobile phone number is requested to be able to sign in to the digital platform then you will receive a One Time Password (OTP) sent to your provided mobile number to be used to sign in. Please do not submit your personal information. In particular, we may also collect :

    • Information sent either one-to-one or within a limited group using our message, chat, post, or similar functionality, where we are permitted by applicable law to collect this information;
    • Location information, including information provided by a mobile or other device interacting with the platform, or associated with your IP address or other online or device identifier, where we are permitted by law to process this information.
    • Information you provide in the discussion forum on the platform such as your public posts and comments.
    • Usage information about your activity, how often you use the reporting feature, check out postings, contents you view or posts, how long you stay on the platform and how you generally engage with this platform. This information will be part of the statistical data and can help us keep the platform fresh and interesting to our users and will be part of the organization’s data reporting.

We also acquire information for postings in the digital platform only from trusted and credible sources.

SHARING YOUR INFORMATION WITH OTHER ENTITIES
We do not share any information on this digital platform with a third party outside Terre des Hommes Netherlands and the Down to Zero Alliance without your specific consent. We may share non-personal information such as aggregate user statistics, demographic information and usage information with third parties. We may combine usage information with those of other users of the digital platform in order to share trend information with trusted third parties, always in aggregated and anonymized form. For example, we may use your usage information as part of an aggregated number to tell a prospective sponsor how many users effectively made use of the discussion forum to advocate and lobby in raising awareness about Online Child Sexual Exploitation (OCSE) during the COVID19 pandemic.

YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS, CONTROLS AND CHOICES
In accordance with our child safeguarding policy, we may delete certain records that contain personal information posted or commented on the platform. We are also under no obligation to notify you when your posts or comments were deleted or removed. To maintain a child-friendly and safe digital place, we do not allow posts or comments that degrade, belittle or bully other people. You have the right to report (just like in other social networking sites) posts or comments that you find offensive or inappropriate.

We also provide you the ability to exercise certain controls and choices regarding our collection, use and sharing of your information. In accordance with applicable law, your controls and choices may include :

    • Correcting, updating, and deleting your account information
    • Choosing or changing your profile preferences
    • Removing or deleting your own posts or comments in the discussion forum or profile.

If collection of personal information becomes mandatory or necessary in the future, we will make that clear at the point of collection so that you can make an informed decision whether to participate or not.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING POLICY
We recognize the need to provide further privacy protections with respect to the digital platform intended for children and youth. We consider any abuse towards children unacceptable (zero tolerance) in all circumstances and are committed to ensure that in all activities in the digital platform, all necessary steps are taken to protect the rights of children and to ensure their wellbeing. We reiterate that we do not knowingly collect personal information from children and youth users in connection with the platform. We took additional steps safeguard and protect children :

    • All web managers involved in the platform were properly trained or most of them are professionals that work in child safeguarding and protection.
    • Child / youth advocates with proper supervision from a duly trained adult are part of the web managers team for the digital platform
    • The platform’s features and contents were the collected ideas and identified needs and dreams in the digital world of children and youth.

SECURITY OF INFORMATION
The security, integrity and confidentiality in order to maintain a child friendly and safe space for children and youth are extremely important to us. We do not provide external links (websites, social media platforms, blog sites etc.) from other sites that we do not have control over. We do not allow users to post links of other sites in the digital platform as they may send their own cookies to your device and may independently collect data or solicit personal information and may or may nor have their own published privacy policies. We recommend that you should also assess the authenticity of any site which appears or claims to be part of the digital platform (including those linked through an email or social networking page). We regularly review our security measures and procedures to consider appropriate new technology and methods. Please be aware that despite our best efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. No personal information will be retained on this platform.

LIMITATIONS ON COVERED SCOPE AND LIABILITY
Any information, whether general or personal, which Terre des Hommes Netherlands may receive by virtue of the digital platform concerned shall be considered absolutely confidential, proprietary, secret, and non-public. They shall not be disclosed to any person other than the person/s to whom the information belongs to.

Terre des Hommes Netherlands’ liability and obligation of confidentiality, however, does not extend to the following information:

a. Information in the public domain at the time of disclosure, or thereafter made known to the public through no fault of TDHNL;

b. Information already known to TDHNL before or at the time of disclosure;

c. Information disclosed to TDHNL without any obligation of confidentiality by a third party with the legal right to make such free disclosure; and

d. Information which is developed independently by the receiving party through a personnel without access to or knowledge of the information disclosed.

TDHNL may disclose information to the extent requested or required by a governmental or judicial entity, provided such disclosure is limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

Should TDHNL be able to acquire other information which are covered by this confidentiality agreement, TDHNL, upon the request of the disclosing party, shall return or destroy all confidential, proprietary or secret information in TDHNL’s possession.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY GUIDELINES
Please note that from time to time, we may modify these privacy guidelines without prior notice to you in order to accommodate new technologies, regulatory requirements/laws or for other purposes. Any changes will be effective immediately upon the posting of the updated privacy guidelines in the digital platform. You should check back here if the privacy guidelines have been updated. Date of revision will also be shown so you will know when it has last been updated.

I find the terms and conditions specified in this VFC Digital Platform Privacy Guidelines as acceptable, reasonable, and in accordance with the law.
